3つのコンサート・マーチより「海音」

　「Kai’on」漢字で書けば「海音」、実はこの曲は「3つのコンサート・マーチ」という作品の第1曲です。

　最初のテーマを発想した時から「海」のイメージで書きました。3部形式で書かれています。

　冒頭のファンファーレは船出のイメージ、最初の部分12小節 からのモチーフと16小節からのモチーフ、2つの要素で成り立っています。47小節からちょっと長いつなぎがあって、59小節から中間部、67小節のメロディーは青い海原の上空を滑空するかもめのイメージです。少し発展しながら96小節から始めの部分に戻ります。114小節から新たな展開、つまり2つのテーマが同時に演奏されるコーダです。かなり転調しますからよく譜面を確認してください。

　「3つのコンサート・マーチ」はこの曲の他に「Ji’on」「Ten’on」があります。

　この3曲はタイトルとしてひとつの流れを作ったのですが、曲としてはそれぞれ独立していますから単独で取り上げていただいて結構です。3曲続けて演奏していただく場合は、この曲は1曲目としてお願いします。

Toshiyuki Mukai has composed three marches, “Kai’on”, “Ji’on” and “Ten’on”, inspired by earth, sea and sky. Each piece takes it inspiration from the specific element and portrays the composer’s image of what that element means to him. Together, these three marches make a wonderful suite, but each is independent and can be played separately.Kai’on means the sound of the sea. It is the first movement of Three Concert Marches and is composed in sonata form.The opening fanfare, composed of two short motives, strongly evokes an image of a great vessel sailing on the open ocean. Other melodies in the trio and third section portray seabirds floating over the blue waters and how the waters can be both peaceful and filled with rage. The coda combines all the melodic material into a stirring climax.
