吹奏楽のための組曲「ウィンド・カラーズ」

　この作品は、作曲者が航空自衛隊中部航空音楽隊に在任中、同メンバー金管五重奏のために書き下ろした作品を元に、小編成の吹奏楽版として再構成したものです。「時間」をテーマに色々な曲想で表現した4つの小品で構成されています。

古代ルネサンス時代の曲想を独自に表現した「アンシェント・タイム」。いい天気の下、外へウキウキ気分で散歩へ出かける様子を表現した「ウォーキング・タイム」。気持ちよく眠りにつきそのまま夢の世界へ誘う「ドリーミング・タイム」。最後はサーカスでのピエロや沢山の動物たちの楽しげなパフォーマンスを表現した「サーカス・タイム」。

吹奏楽編成になったことでサウンドに変化が生まれました。曲の難易度は少し高めになっていますが、それぞれハッキリ判りやすい曲想になっているので、曲想ごとに変化に富んだ演奏を心がけて下さい。

This suite is composer Tetsuya Watanabe’s new setting of his original composition “Brass Colors”, written while he was in the Central Air Defense Force Band for the unit’s brass quintet. The four movements of the suite are all based on the theme of “time". “Ancient Time” is an original melody evocative of the music of the Renaissance, with fugal passages. “Walking Time” portrays a stroll through the park on a sunny day with a melody reminiscent of old American folksong. “Dreaming Time” imagines the dream world we all enter during sleep and features a languid, sinuous melody. “Circus Time” is a rollicking movement that paints a day at the circus, full of clowns and animals.

The setting of this piece for full wind band provides even more colorful sound than the original and is suitable for moderately advanced musicians. Care is needed throughout to realize the composer’s melodies clearly.
