白鳥の旅立ちの日に

福島県の伊達市立伊達小学校吹奏楽部の委嘱により、作曲しました。

伊達市は、遠くシベリアから越冬のために飛んでくる白鳥の飛来地で、委嘱をいただいた際に、参考にと送っていただいた学校の周辺の写真の中に、白鳥の写真があり強く印象に残りました。

伊達小学校の先生や生徒さんには、毎年のことながら、冬の到来と共に飛来し、春の訪れと共に帰って行く白鳥には格別の思いがあると思います。

冬の情景や、春の訪れのイメージや、春になり帰って行くために飛び立つ白鳥を、卒業し飛び立って行く生徒さん達とオーバーラップさせて作りました。

福島弘和(Hirokazu Fukushima)

東京音楽大学器楽科卒業、同大学研究科修了。オーボエを浜道晁、作曲を有馬礼子の各氏に師事する。

現在、オーケストラ、吹奏楽を中心に作曲活動をする。1998年「稲穂の波」、2000年「道祖神の詩」が全日本吹奏楽連盟の課題曲として採用。2019年には同連盟からの委嘱課題曲として行進曲「春」を作曲。1999年に朝日作曲賞（一般社団法人全日本吹奏楽連盟）、2007,’12.’13.’15.’19年に下谷奨励賞（公益社団法人日本吹奏楽指導者協会）、2010年に日本管打・吹奏楽アカデミー賞（作・編曲部門）の各賞を受賞。2001年国民文化祭や、2008年全国高等学校総合文化祭の創作音楽を担当。

21世紀の吹奏楽“響宴”会員。尚美ミュージックカレッジ専門学校講師。

主な作品:交響曲ト調、シンフォニエッタ、同第2番「祈りの鐘」、同第3番「響きの森」、ラッキードラゴン 第五福竜丸の記憶、

WHEN THE SWANS LEAVE：Composer: Hirokazu FUKUSHIMA

This piece was commissioned by the Date Elementary School Band in Fukushima Prefecture.

The city of Date is a wintering ground for swans that migrate over a long distance from Siberia, and the swans in the photos of the area surrounding the school that were sent to me for reference after I had received the commission left a deep impression on me.

I believe that the teachers and students of Date Elementary School share a special affinity with the swans that migrate there every winter and return to Siberia with the arrival of spring.

I wrote this piece by weaving together scenes of winter and the arrival of spring, and by juxtaposing the sight of swans taking off into the sky to return home with the journey of graduating students as they begin the next phase of their lives.
