昂揚の漣 （こうようのさざなみ）

馬齢を重ねたせいか若い方々に物申したくなる、そのひとつに結果ばかりを気にしないで思う存分立ち向かっていってほしい、ということがあったりします。

この曲は古典的な曲の名残りがそこかしこにあって、形式的にもかなり自由とはいえソナタ形式を下敷きにしており、また苦しみをくぐり抜けて栄光へといった図式もおなじみのもの。ただこの曲でのねらいでいえば、苦しみ的な部分にあってもうちひしがれるのではなく、常に前向きというのがあります。気分が沸き立つところ、そこへむかってぞわじわと波が押し寄せてくるような。そういう曲想と最初に書いたことがつながるのかどうなのか、ただ少しでも励ますものになればと願っています。

曲の運びはとりたてて難しくないかと思いますけれど、いつもながら声部のからみはあったりして、そのあたりはやや大変で……しかしやりがいがあるところでは、とも思われます。ぜひ立ち向かってください。（長生淳）

1964年茨城県生まれ。東京藝術大学作曲科卒業、同大学院修士課程修了。

作曲を永冨正之・野田暉行両氏に師事。2000年度武満徹作曲賞、（財）日本交響楽振興財団第24回作曲賞、第16回日本管打・吹奏楽アカデミー賞（作編曲部門）受賞。全日本吹奏楽連盟作曲コンクール第１位入賞。第４回クードヴァン国際吹奏楽曲作曲コンクール第2位受賞。令和5年度JBA下谷賞受賞。21世紀の吹奏楽“響宴”会員。

おもな作品には《交響曲》《翠風の光》《楓葉の舞》《紺碧の波濤》《Paganini Lost in Wind》《久堅の幹》など。

One thing I have always wanted to convey to young people, perhaps as a result of my horse's age, is my hope that they can stand up to their challenges without worrying about individual outcomes.

This piece incorporates many elements of classical music throughout, and its relatively free form is actually derived from the sonata form. Its pattern of depicting a journey from suffering to glory is also one that is familiar to most people. However, the aim of this piece is not to invoke feelings of depression in the section about suffering but to always stay positive. The section with a billowing atmosphere portrays an image of a wave that builds up slowly. I am not sure how relevant the concept of this piece is to what I wrote at the beginning, but I hope that it will serve as a source of inspiration to many people.

Although the flow of the piece is not too difficult to follow, the interaction between the different voices can be a little challenging as always. However, I think it is worthwhile to perform this piece and I hope you can give it a try.
