トビアスの家を去る大天使ラファエル

フィルハーモニックウインズ大阪の依頼を受けて、「ええとこどり」のレコーディングのために書き下ろしました。「トビアスの家を去る大天使ラファエル」は「トビト書（トビト記）」に書かれている大天使ラファエルの話を基に作曲したものです。

青年トビアスは、人間に扮したラファエルとの旅の途中、悪魔に取り憑かれた娘サラと出会います。トビアスはラファエルの指示で、以前に捕まえておいた巨大魚の心臓と肝臓を燻すと、悪魔は祓われました。その後、ラファエルの勧めによって、トビアスとサラは結婚し、二人は幸せな生活を送ります。家に戻ったトビアスは、失明した父トビトの目に巨大魚の胆汁を落とすと、トビトの目に光が戻りました。ラファエルは正体を明かし、自分たちの身に起きた全てを書き残すようトビアスに言い残し、天へ帰って行きました。

曲は木管により神秘的に始まり、広大に広がる陸と海を想像させるような旋律へと変わっていきます。中間部では二人の身に起きた難関を表現し、後半部ではその難関を突破し、物語の最後、トビトの目が治りサラとトビアスの結婚を祝福しラファエルが正体を明かしトビアスの家を去る場面を壮大に表現しています。(樽屋雅徳)

樽屋雅徳(Masanori Taruya)

1978年千葉県銚子市生まれ。武蔵野音楽大学音楽学部作曲学科卒業。佐藤博、宮本良樹各氏に師事。

フランスで吹奏楽曲「Ardent Overture」を出版。代表作として「絵のない絵本」「民衆を導く自由の女神」「マゼランの未知なる大陸への挑戦」「ラザロの復活」「マードックからの最後の手紙」などがある。

全国の吹奏楽団やマーチングバンドからの委嘱も数多く、その作品の多くが国内外問わず広く演奏され、日本でもっとも人気のある作曲家のひとりである。また、作曲・編曲の傍ら、吹奏楽指導やコンクール等の審査員、執筆活動などでも多くの成果を挙げている。

2004年 2018年まで銚子市立銚子高等学校の音楽監督を務めマーチングコンテストで全国大会へ、吹奏楽コンクールでは東関東大会、東日本大会へと導く。

現在はベルモンテウィンドオーケストラの指揮者・音楽監督を務め、指導者としても高い評価を受けている。

ARCHANGEL RAPHAEL WHO LEAVES A HOUSE OF TOBIAS

“Archangel Raphael leaving Tobias’s house” was composed based on the story of Archangel Raphael in the book of Tobit.

There was an old man named Tobit, a devout Jew. He lost his eyesight and realized his death and was in a trap of despair. On the other hand, there was a daughter named Sarah who was obsessed with the devil, and she also wanted to die. One day, Tobit’s son Tobias traveled with his guide to his father. This guide was Raphael who came down to give salvation to them.

During the journey, Tobias meets Sarah. Under the direction of Rafael, Tobias deceived the heart and liver of the giant fish he had caught and gave her, the devil was dealt with. Tobias returned home, as Rafael said again, he dropped bile of giant fish in his father’s eyes. Then Tobit’s vision was restored. Tobias and Sara were married and they lived happily. Rafael told them that he was an angel of God, told Tobias to write down everything that happened to them, and went back to heaven.

The song begins mysteriously with woodwinds and gradually turns into a melody that makes you imagine the vast land and sea. The middle part expresses the misfortune that happened to Tobito and Sarah. The climax of the story is magnificently depicted as the devil leaves, Tobit’s eyes heal, bless Sarah and Tobias’s marriage, Rafael reveals his identity, and leaves Tobias’s house.
