魔女からの招待状

この作品は4つの小品で構成されています。

1. フランケンシュタイン前奏曲
不気味な容姿のフランケンシュタイン。その外見とは違い、心優しいのですが、その体の巨大さゆえ、人に恐怖心を抱かせます。曲の冒頭は強奏の同音連打で始まります。

2. ヴァンパイヤのワルツ
ヴァンパイヤは、噛まれた人間もヴァンパイヤになってしまうことから、人々に非常に恐れられています。この作品はヴァンパイヤが人間に恋をし、ともにダンスを踊っているイメージです。哀愁を帯びたメロディをちりばめています。

3うたうゾンビ
ゾンビは、死んだはずの人間が生き返ってしまったモンスター。体中傷だらけで、腐りかけていたりと、見た目はかなり酷い状態です。そんなゾンビたちが、魔女から夜会の招待状を受け取ります。彼らは嬉しくなって、その日を心待ちにしつつ、歌ったり踊ったりします。曲はswing調のリズムで、短調のメロディですが、どこかコミカルさを併せ持っています。

4. 魔女の夜会
魔女は年老いた老婆なので、他のモンスター達に頼られる存在。今宵は多くのモンスターたちとともにパーテイーで、朝を迎えるまで盛大な夜会が繰り広げられます。曲はこの作品中のモチーフを織り交ぜたフィナーレ。また曲調が細かく移り変わります。クライマックスはモンスター達が、突然差し込んだ朝日を浴びそうになり、慌てふためく様子を表現しています。（島田尚美）

島田尚美(Naomi Shimada)

東京音楽大学作曲科卒業、同大学院修了。作曲を西村朗氏に師事。

2009年『コミカル★パレード』、2016年『焔』が、全日本吹奏楽コンクール課題曲に採用された。この2作品からもうかがえるとおり、親しみやすい作品から現代曲まで幅広い作風を持ち、多くのファンに指示されている。

INVITATION FROM THE WITCH

This piece is divided into four small pieces.

1. Frankenstein Overture

Frankenstein appears creepy. Despite the appearance, though, he has a kind heart, but people are afraid of him because of the giant body. The song begins with fortissimo of the same tone played repeatedly.

2. Waltz of the Vampire

Humans turn into vampires when they are bitten, so people are very afraid of vampires. The piece has an image of a vampire falling in love with a human and dancing together. Sorrowful melodies are scattered throughout the music.

3. Singing Zombies

When dead humans return to life, they become monsters called zombies. They have horrible appearances like having bodies full of scars or having rotting bodies. The zombies received an invitation to a night party from a witch. Zombies are happy to get the invitation, so they look forward to the day of the party while singing and dancing. The song has a rhythm like a swing music played in minor keys, but the song also sounds somewhat comical.

4. Night Party of the Witch

The witch is an old lady, and she is someone who is looked up to by other monsters. Tonight, she will have a great night party with many monsters until the morning. This song is a finale with many elements from the overall piece. There are many subtle changes to the tune as well. The climax of the song depicts how monsters panic over a sudden ray of morning sunlight, almost shining at them.
