行進曲「オーバー・ザ・ギャラクシー」（自筆譜に基づく改訂新版）

　この曲は、1980年度全日本吹奏楽連盟からの委嘱で作曲されました。作曲者は作曲当時、作品について以下のように述べています。
『私たちの宇宙への夢は果てしないものがあります。夜空にきらめく星の群。銀河の向こうには何があるのでしょう。空想は無限に広がっていきます。もし向こうにも誰かが住んでいたら、きっと同じように想像をめぐらすことでしょう。そこから見れば地球は銀河を超えたところにあり、地球人は宇宙人というわけです。何と楽しいことではありませんか。この曲は夢と憧れを持って明るく美しく演奏してください。』 速いテンポとポップステイストなリズムとハーモニーは斬新かつ新鮮で、作曲者の代表曲「ブルー・インパルス」と並び大変人気を博したのはもちろん、課題曲としての役割を終えて以降、現在においてもスタンダードなコンサートピースとして世代を超えて多くの皆様に愛され続けている作品です。
　この版は、ご遺族の快諾を頂いた上で作曲者の自筆譜を元に一部の楽器（Alto Clarinet、String Bass）を追記、また自筆譜に本来書いてあった音を追記したもので、「自筆譜に基づく改訂新版」として位置づけています。課題曲版とは少し違ったサウンドがお楽しみ頂ければと思います。
March Over the Galaxy was commissioned for the All Japan Band Association in 1980. Of the work, composer Takanobu Saito said "Our dream of space is endless. A never ending star cluster glittering in the night sky. I wonder what is in the other side of the galaxy and, if beings live there, do they have the same sense of curiosity and wonder about the galaxy that I have. Do they wonder about the aliens on the other side of the galaxy on earth, too? What a wonderful thing to think about! I wish you the musicians who play this piece do so with the same sense of beauty and wonder as the thoughts that inspired me to compose it.”
Over the Galaxy features a brisk tempo with rhythms and harmony strongly influenced by pop music of the 1980s. With “Blue Impulse”, it was very popular after the initial release and is still loved by musicians and audiences today.
Nexuss Music is pleased to release two new editions of Over the Galaxy, based on the original hand written score. The first ed ition (NWO-031) adds new instrumentation and makes minor revision is suitable for large wind bands. The result is a pleasing adapta tion of the original. The second edition(NWO-032) has been adapted to be successfully performed by bands with as few as 20 musicians.
