冒頭のモチーフには「青は遠い色」という歌詞がそのまま当てはまります。透明感のある演奏を目指してください。フレーズごとに転調してゆくのは「空の青に触れられそうで、触れる事ができない」というイメージを表しております。中間部はたっぷりと歌っていただければと思います。最後のデクレッシェンドは音が小さくなってゆくと言うよりは、音が遠ざかってゆくイメージで演奏してください。

編成は1管編成(クラは2管)で、音数も少ないので10人 演奏可能です。また、人数が多いパート(特に内声)は1段下のパートの音を演奏してください。パーカッションはマルチパーカッション的な配置の工夫が必要で、Timp とSD を同時に演奏する様な箇所はスティックやマレットの硬さを工夫してください。

東京音楽大学卒業。同大学研究科修了。

オーボエを浜道晁、作曲を有馬礼子の各氏に師事する。現在、吹奏楽やオーケストラなど作編曲活動をする。また、演奏にパフォーマンスやコメディーを加えたアンサンブルポアールで演奏活動をする。

1999年朝日作曲賞、2003年下谷作曲賞、2007,2012,2013年下谷奨励賞、2010年日本管打吹奏楽学会アカデミー賞作曲部門など受賞する。

2001年国民文化祭、2008年全国高校総合文化祭の創作音楽を手掛けている。

BLUE IS A FAR WAY COLOR：Composer: Hirokazu FUKUSHIMA

Using a choral piece based on the poem "Ao" ("Blue") by Shuntaro Tanikawa as a motif, I composed a mixed octet piece inspired by the contents of the same poem. This composition is a version of that piece, edited for small wind ensembles. In order to facilitate a longer performance, many of the sections of this piece differ in structure from their counterparts in the mixed octet version.

The lyric "blue is a far away color" is apropos to the opening motif. Please try to play this section with a sense of "clarity" and "translucence."

The key changes that come with each phrase represent the notion that while the blue of the sky seems within reach, we cannot touch it.

I wrote the middle section in the hope of hearing it sung with feeling. As for the final decrescendo, more than making the sound quieter, please perform it with the idea in mind that the sound is becoming more distant.

The ensemble remains mostly as a single section and the number of notes is small, so the piece can be performed by an ensemble as small as 10 musicians. When you have a large number of people playing one part, please have them play the notes for the next part down. Regarding the percussion, the musicians will need to be stationed in a way that will allow them to perform multiple percussion instruments, so please keep in mind the hardness of the sticks and mallets as it relates to any sections in which the percussionists may be playing timpani and snare drum at the same time.
