この楽曲は、2023年に惜しまれつつ亡くなった世界的な作曲家・坂本龍一さんの作品です。1986年に発表されたアルバム『未来派野郎』および『メディア・バーン・ライブ』に収録された「Ballet Mecanique」。曲名は、1924年にフランスで制作された同名の実験映画（音楽は米国の作曲家George Antheil氏が担当）から取られたと言われています。

シンプルで切なさを感じさせるテーマで始まり、中盤から躍動的なリズムが加わって後半に向けて盛り上がっていく多彩な構成を持ちます。矢野顕子さんが書かれた印象的な歌詞（訳詞はピーター・バラカン氏）も相まって、深く心に残る名曲です。2018年に公開されたアニメ映画『ANEMONE／交響詩篇エウレカセブン ハイエボリューション』の挿入歌としても知られています。

このすばらしい曲が広く演奏され、時代を超えて人々の心に刻み続けることを願い、吹奏楽版の編曲を行いました。

This piece is a work by the worldrenowned composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, who sadly passed away in 2023. It was included in his 1986 albums Futurista and Media Bahn Live. The title is said to be inspired by a 1924 experimental film of the same name produced in France, with music by American composer George Antheil.

The piece starts with a simple, poignant theme, gradually building with dynamic rhythms into a lively and climactic ending. With memorable lyrics by Akiko Yano (translated by Peter Barakan), it leaves a deep impression on listeners. It also gained renewed attention as an insert song in the 2018 animated film ANEMONE: Eureka Seven HiEvolution.

This wind band arrangement was created in hopes that this wonderful song will continue to be performed and resonate with people across generations.
