The original manga by Shinichi Ishizuka, which portrays a saxophonist striving to become the world's greatest jazz player, began serialization in 2013 and became extremely popular. The film also gained significant attention. Hiromi Uehara, a worldrenowned jazz pianist, composed the film's original soundtrack, including this piece. With its striking speed and thrilling intensity, the song highlights some of the most memorable scenes in the movie.

Originally performed by a trio of tenor saxophone, piano, and drums, this arrangement is adapted for concert band. The orchestration has been carefully crafted so that even if certain instruments like the oboe or bassoon are absent, the performance quality remains unaffected. Written in a unique 7/8 meter (mainly 4+3), players are encouraged to channel the passion of the protagonist as they perform. The melody is distributed among various sections to fully utilize the strengths of a concert band. Be sure to listen to the original for articulation and nuance references.
