マードックからの最後の手紙
1912年4月、世界最大の豪華客船として、ニューヨークへ向け出航したタイタニック号は、その処女航海を終えることなく海の底へと沈んでいきました。マードックは、タイタニック号に乗船していた1等航海士であり、船が沈む最後の瞬間まで勇敢に乗客の救出にあたった乗組員の一人です。
彼は航海中、家族に手紙を書くのが日課であり、そこには自分の近況はもちろん、家族を気遣う思いが必ず綴られていました。
そんなマードックからの「最後の手紙」には、乗客達で賑わう船上の様子や大西洋からの美しい眺め、そして事故を予感させるアクシデントについて、語られていたかもしれません。
曲はその手紙に綴られていたであろう風景や彼の思いをアイリッシュ調のメロディーで描いていきます。

THE LAST LETTER FROM MURDOCH
In April 1912, the RMS Titanic, one of the largest and most luxurious ocean liners ever built, departed Southampton, England, on its maiden voyage across the Atlantic Ocean. However the Titanic sinked into the North Atlantic Ocean about 400 miles south of Newfoundland, Canada without finishing the maiden voyage. Mardock is the first officer who was on board the Titanic and one of the crew who bravely rescued the passengers until the last moment the ship sinks. His daily routine was to write a letter to his family during the voyage, and there were always spells out caring for his family as well as his recent situation. The last letter from such a Mardock might have spoken of a busy boat with passengers, a beautiful view from the Atlantic, and an accident that predicts the accident. This song was inspired by the letter and wrote with an Irish melody. I hope you listen and play as if you were reading the last letter from Murdoch.
